A Bit of a Midlife Reset…
StumpGrinding.uk didn't start as just another service business — it started as a bit of a reset.
After nearly 10 years working from home, spending most days behind a screen, I realised something had to change. Like many people in their early 40s, I wanted to get back out, work with my hands again, and build something real.
You could call it a midlife crisis… but a productive one.
From Hands-On Work to Office Life… and Back Again
Hands-on, outdoors
Working on construction sites and on the railway. Practical work — early starts, long days, and being outside getting things done.
The digital world
An office at an SEO agency, then working from home — building websites, analysing data, helping businesses grow online. Valuable skills, but something was missing.
Too much time indoors. Not enough doing.
Starting Something Real
That's where StumpGrinding.uk comes in. This isn't just about removing tree stumps — it's about building a service business the right way, combining practical work with the attention to detail and professionalism developed over years in the digital world.

For me, this business is personal.
There's a big difference between someone who just wants to get the job done quickly — and someone who actually cares about the result. It's about getting back to:
